So why The Kepos Street Kitchen?
She says This was another of His suggestions. I didn’t realise that it was a fancy restaurant and when we turned up I have to admit I sulked a bit because I was sure they couldn’t do great burgers if they weren’t in our favourite American style. Oh, how wrong I was.
He says: This has been on our list for yonks and looked to be a nice switch up from the American diner styled burgers we’d been scoffing down of late.

Tell us about the Lamb Kefta Burger?
He says: They said the meat on this was served medium rare but it was definitely on the rare side of things (it was kind of like a burger tartare!) which is something I’m not used to but adapted to quite quickly. The harissa relish and kohlrabi slaw further heaved this little middle eastern inspired delight into enjoyablility.
She says: This burger was really special and very different. It WAS super rare, like He says, when I ate it it was almost like a juicy steak tartare on bread (which I realise sounds gross but which was actually really great). Not for the faint of heart. But the freshness of the apples and mint was perfect with the richness of the lamb. It was a really great burger. Not our usual style but delicious.
So then, how did you find the Southern Fried Chicken Burger?
She says: This was a massive burg, and the mayo was bright yellow. I was almost expecting it to have that earthy turmeric taste. But it was magic, juicy chicken, crunchy schnitzel batter and lots of sauce. Another smashing burg.
He says: This bad boy is listed on the menu as a sandwich so I took the liberty of renaming it for them. A generous couple of chunks of juicy schnitzel make friends here with coleslaw and chermoula mayo. It’s delicious but lost points for arriving at the table strangely cold (as if it had been sitting on the counter too long) and the brioche bun was a touch on the dry side.
Now, what about the sides?
She says: The sides were a bit meh, as He says below this isn’t really a place where sides are going to kick any goals. The chips were good, fat and juicy, but I wasn’t super unimpressed with the milkshake.
He says: This is a café (the other stuff on the menu looked tremendous) so it’s hard to get too grumpy on them regarding their lack of traditional burgering feast sides. The fries served with the burger were standard but tasty if, again unfortunately, a little on the cold side upon arrival. The milkshake needed a whole lot more sweet syrup to stand up to my tastes but each to their own.
