So why the Vic on the Park? 

He says: Have enjoyed many a drinking session here and the food always looks like it’s a winner. It’s been on our list of burgers to eat for ages but only a failed house hunting search served as the impetus for us to finally dine on their burgers.

She says: We had a rather late night here a few weeks ago and witnessed burgers (but did not get any of our own). It was time to give them a go. And as mentioned they also dulled the pain somewhat of looking at ridiculously overpriced, rubbish rental properties. (We did subsequently find a place – Him and I are moving in together!)

Tell us about the Beef Burger?

He says:  This was pretty damn good. I’ve heard this place is owned/run by the same guys as The Lord Gladstone and that’s a great indicator as to the quality. Great bun, bacon, pickles, cheese and the tomato mustard mayo was as addictive as crack (so I assume). I’d give it a higher score but patty was a little overcooked and had a slight spiced sausage vibe to it. Would like to try it again to see how it fares.

She says:  He told me as I was taking a bite about the Lord Gladstone connection… and I was pumped, but it wasn’t as good and that is what I focussed on (it was a pretty dark day after all). Looking now I recognise that this was actually an okay burger. Highlight was the bacon which was super strong and smokey. Great cheese and pickles too and a good bun, but there was definitely a sausage meat quality to the patty which makes me sad whenever we encounter it. I

So then, how did you find the Buttermilk Chicken Burger?

She says: This was great – we have had such a good chicken burger run lately that the stakes are fairly high. The avocado was just noticeable because the flavours were really well balanced. The chook was good and juicy with the right amount of crunch. And again – that bun!

He says: Great fried chicken that had a crunchy exterior and was soft and moist inside. I’m the chipotle mayo was a masterstroke but unlike the beautiful She I’m just not that much of a fan of avocado on a burger (which is strange considering I love them on a sandwich or pretty much anything else in general).

And what about the sides? 

She says: POTATO SKINS! Hot damn I love it when the sides are great. I can’t believe these aren’t already on every menu in the world. These hollowed out skins had just enough soft potato innards to perfectly house the sour cream and bacon-y bits. Definitely absolute artery cloggers but worth every bite. The chips weren’t anything special – they looked pretty dumb next to the potato skins, I’ll tell you that.IMG_6549

He says: The fries that came with the burger were simple and hit the spot when dunked in the chipotle mayo provided. I had a drunken recollection of ordering the potato skins here late one night and them being delicious and I was pleased that my drunken self was on point. Hard to go wrong with crunchy potato skins that are covered in cheese, bacon crisps, sour cream mayo and green onion and these guys tasted as good as they sound.
